These gorgeous baroque ‘fireball’ freshwater pearls show off their glistening iridescence as they twist and turn in the light. Measuring approximately 13 x 23-30mm, these lovely pearls come in strings of around 17 pearls and would make a subtly stunning statement necklace without being too extreme.

Fireball pearls are among the most extraordinary forms that freshwater pearl cultivation produces with these large baroque examples being particularly spectacular. Each pearl grows with a round or oval nucleus surrounded by dramatic, flame-like protrusions of nacre that erupt organically from the surface, giving every pearl a unique sculptural form that is unlike anything else in the jewellery maker’s palette.

The iridescence is exceptional, a deep luminous glow of white and silver with shifting overtones of green, blue, and pale gold that change with every movement and every angle of light. At 13 x 23-30mm these are substantial, weighty pearls with a genuine presence, and with approximately 17 pearls to a string there is enough for a statement necklace that will draw admiration and questions in equal measure wherever it is worn.
